Michael Keaton was born on September 9 or September 5, 1951 in the Pittsburgh suburb of Coraopolis, Pennsylvania. He is an American actor.
Keaton was born in an Irish Catholic family of 7 children.
Keaton's real name is Michael John Douglas, but he could not use his real last name professionally because the Screen Actors Guild prohibits two actors from using the same name, and his name would have conflicted with those of Mike Douglas or Michael Keaton. He picked "Keaton" after actress Diane Keaton.
Keaton is known for his work in films such as Beetlejuice, and Multiplicity. He was also a controversial casting choice for the title role in Batman. Comic book fan anger was such that an impromptu teaser trailer had to be released to address the complaints. The marketing move was successful and Keaton is now seen as one of the best actors to have played the role.
His career suffered a lull until 2005's White Noise.
