Kareena Kapoor (nickname: Bebo) (born September 21, 1980, Mumbai, India) is an Indian actress who has acted in several successful Hindi films. She hails from the "Kapoor family" which has many of its members included within the film fraternity.
Her first movie was J. P. Dutta's Refugee which was released on June 30, 2000 and included co-debutant Abhishek Bachchan in the cast. Her other notable roles include "Pooja" in the inter-generational melodrama Kabhie Kushi Kabhie Gham, "Kaurwaki" in Asoka, and the title role in Chameli, in which she plays a prostitute. She is currently dating actor-boyfriend Shahid Kapoor (they starred together in the 2004 movie Fida which flopped at the box office).
Kareena has won three Filmfare Awards to date including the Best Debut (Female) Award for Refugee, a Special Acting prize for Chameli and a Best Actress (Critics') citation for Govind Nihalani's Dev, in which she played a Muslim girl caught in the midst of regional violence.
